The employees of the General Inspection of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia visited the Kingdom of Belgium in the frames of the Association Agreement with the European Union.
During the visit, the first deputy of the director of MIA General Inspection, Alexander Doghonadze, General Inspection deputy head, Varlam Khatridze and head of the administration of general inspection, George Tskhvediani held meeting with representatives of Belgian Ministry of Interior and Security, Federal Police, Federal Police General Inspectorate and the permanent committee heads of police monitoring.
Representatives of the General Inspection of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia informed the European colleagues on the implemented and ongoing reforms as well as activities of the agency.
The meeting discussed issues such as the methods of supervising police activities, determining the efficiency assessment criteria of police activities, as well as processing statistical data, analysis and planning preventive activities. The sides expressed their desire to deepen cooperation in various directions and set future plans.
The visit was organized by the EU Technical Support and Information Exchange Service (TAIEX). It aimed to share experiences in the field of supervision over police activities, introduction of internal and external control mechanisms for police activities to compare their positive and negative sides.
The experience of the law enforcement agencies of the Kingdom of Belgium will enable the General Inspection of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia to conduct their responsibilities in a more effective way, to increase public awareness and raise credibility.
