Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and UN Women. Memorandum was signed by Deputy Minister of MIA Mr. Levan Izoria and country representative of UN women in Georgia Erica Kvapilova.
Memorandum of Understanding aims to strengthen capacity of the police forces to promote and protect women's rights, especially to protect them from domestic violence (DV)and Gender Based Violence (GVB). In order to enhance response efficiency on domestic violence cases, task forces were established in three pilot regions of Georgia responsible for domestic violence and gender based violence (GBV) cases. Task force members were trained in Legal mechanisms against domestic violence and treating distinctness of victims of sexual abuse.
