Officers of Anti-corruption Agency of the Ministry of Internal Affairs as a result of operative-searching and investigative activities detained Giorgi Bezhanishvili – head of expertise division of control maintenance department (State Regulation Agency for Medical Activities) of the Ministry of Ministry of Labour, Health and Social Affairs for bribery and Nino Asatiani- administrative director of the “National Training Center for Family Medicine” for production and selling of the fake official documents and citizen Valeri Nadaraia for selling fake official documents.
Investigation established that Valeri Nadaraia, under the previous consent, reached with Giorgi Bezhanishvili, promised to a certain citizen to assist in receiving disability pension on the basis of the fake health certificate, in return for 2500 GEL. Giorgi Bezhanishvili asked Nino Asatiani for assistance in production of the fake certificate. Asatiani produced and issued fake health certificate, according to which it was established that citizen had a disability of the second category, despite the fact that citizen had never been examined at “National Training Center for Family Medicine”.
Law enforcers seized part of the sum – 150 GEL accepted as a bribe.
Investigation is in progress on the fact of bribery, production, selling and using of fake documentation, article 338, I part and article 362, I part of the Criminal Code. The committed crime envisages from 6 to 9 years of imprisonment.
