The officers of Anti-corruption Agency under the MIA in cooperation with Customs Department of Revenue Office, as a result of operative-searching and investigative activities detained citizen of Armenia Artak H, for illegal purchase, keeping and transit of drugs in especially large quantities.
Investigation established, that Artak H. illegally purchased drugs in especially large quantities and decided to illegally bring them to Georgia. The detainee entered Georgia from Armenia via “Sadakhlo” Border Check Point carrying illegally kept drugs in especially large quantities in the abolished tank by his own vehicle TOYOTA LAND CRUISER.
As a result of check carried out in the vehicle, law enforcers found 96,460 lt. of liquid substance, which contained 57,24 kg of narcotic substance “Amphetamine” as well as 226,681 gr. of narcotic substance “Methamphetamine” in especially large quantities. The officers of Anticorruption Agency upon the receipt of chemical expertise results and after the quantity of drugs have been determined, detained Artak H. in Tbilisi as a result of decision made by court.
Investigation is in progress on the fact of illegal purchase, keeping and transit of drugs in especially large quantities. (Article 260, part III, subparagraph “A” and article 262, part IV, subparagraph “A”, which envisages from 15 to 20 years or lifetime imprisonment. Investigation is carried out by Anti-corruption Agency under the MIA.
