The officers of Anti-corruption Agency of the Ministry of Internal Affairs exposed members of Batumi local government Mamuli Jghenti for misusing his official powers and assistance in committing swindling while citizens –Malkhaz G. and Guguli D. were exposed for committing swindling in large quantities in group.
Investigation established that in July of 2013 Guguli D. and his son Malkhaz G. plotted to appropriate 863 square meters of land area. In order to fulfil their plan they illegally installed fences and addressed ownership standing commission in order to make legal illegally appropriated land area. In the statement detainees wrote that owned the mentioned land area for 20 years and asked for legalization of the land.
Member of Batumi local government and at the same time member of ownership standing commission –Mamuli Zhgenti misused his powers in order to fulfill the plot of Guguli D. and Malkhaz G. misleaded members of the commission and assured them that registrationof the land on Guguli D’s name was in compliance with the law. Thus Guguli D. and Malkhaz G. managed to appropriate 863 square meters of land area by swindling and inflicted fiscal damage to the state in the amount of 149149 GEL in total.
Investigation against Mamuli Zhgenti is in progress on the fact of misusing powers and assistance in swindling (article 25-180 II part, sub-paragraph A and III part, sub-paragraph B and article 332 I part). Investigation against Guguli D. and malkhaz G. is in progress on the fact of swindling committed by the group in large quantities (article 180, II part, sub-paragraph A and part III, sub-paragraph B of the Criminal Code.
