The officers of Marneuli police division of Kvemo Kartli police department along with Rustavi police division, as a result of the investigative and searching activities held on the basis of operative information, detained three persons with several previous convictions: V.K. (DoB 1983) J.B. (DoB 1982) and G.M. (DoB 1972) for illegal purchase, keeping and carrying of firearms.
According to the testimony given by one of the detainees it was revealed that the accused persons plotted the armed robbery of Marneuli based businessman, which was prevented by the operative intervention of the police.
All of the mentioned persons were detained in Marneuli when they were moving with Mercedes made vehicle. During the personal search of the detainee policemen seized automatic weapon with 30 bullets and cartridges, cut gun and rifle. While searching the vehicle law enforcers also seized masks, gloves and tape as evidence.
Investigation is in progress on the fact of illegal purchase, keeping and carrying of firearms repeatedly, artic;e 236, II, III parts of the Criminal Code.
