On the basis of information provided by the National central Bureau of Interpol, the officers of the Main Adjara Division of Counter-intelligence Department and central Criminal Police Department as a result of joint operative-searching activities held on the basis of operative information detained Turkish citizen Iusuo T. (DoB 1949) wanted by the Turkish Bureau of Interpol.
Detainee was wanted by Turkish law enforcers from May 12, 2014 under the red notice of Interpol for formation of the criminal group and forcing others in prostitution.
In order to support his illegal activities Iusup T. established organized criminal group and used his own hotel for providing lodging to persons forcibly involved in prostitution. It was established that in 2008-2009 he transported citizens of various countries’ to Turkey via Georgian territories, through Artvini-Sarpi border checkpoint. He deprived his victims of IDs and passports and forced them to be involved in prostitution.
According to Turkish legislation Iusup T. may face 33 years of imprisonment and fine in the amount of 250 000 liras.
At this moment detainee is placed in Adjara-Guria regional temporary detention center while pre-extradition procedures are underway.
