The officers of Guria Police Department of the MIA as a result of investigative and searching activities held on basis of operative information detained in Daba Chokhatauri previously multiply convicted Kvichidze G. (DoB: 1983) and previously multiply convicted Gambashidze G. (DoB: 1977) for production and realization of counterfeited money in group.
As a result of personal search of Gambashidze G. the law enforcers seized 31 items of 20 GEL counterfeit banknotes and 6 items of 50 GEL counterfeit banknotes; while as a result of personal search of Kvichidze G. the law enforcers seized as material evidences 6 items of 20 GEL counterfeit banknotes and 2 items of 50 GEL counterfeit banknotes. In total the counterfeited banknotes amounted to 1040 GEL.
The investigation established that the defendants produced counterfeited banknotes via foreign – made color laser printer in their own houses in Tbilisi. With the purpose of realization they traveled to Chokhatauri region, bought 2 sacks of nut in the so called “collective farm market" and paid with fake money.
As material evidences the police seized two machines for production of counterfeit money. The detainees have already pleaded guilty.
The investigation is in progress on the fact of production and realization of counterfeited currency (article 212, part I and II of the Criminal Code of Georgia).
