The officers of Central Criminal Police Department and Border Police Departmet, as a result of jointly held operative-searching and investigative activities detained resident of Baku, citizen of Azerbaijan Eldaniz M. (DoB 1975) in Marneueli for illegal purchase and keeping of drugs in especially large quantities and smuggling of drugs on the territory of Georgia.
During the personal search of the detainee police seized 50,5781gr of drug, containing 31,5607 gr of pure heroin. Investigation established that detainee smuggled drugs on Georgian territory from Azerbaijan.
As a result of the drug test it was also revealed that detainee was opium –addicted person. Detainee has already pleaded guilty.
Investigation is in progress on the fact of for illegal purchase and keeping of drugs in especially large quantities (article 260, III part, sub-paragraph A) and on the fact of smuggling drugs on Georgia territory (article 262, IV part, sub-paragraph A) of the Criminal Code.
