The officers of Central Criminal Police Department and employees of General Prosecutor’s Office as a result of complex operative-investigative activities detained former employee of MIA Constitutional Security Department Durmishkhan Ghvachliani (DoB 1962), former employee of MIA Special Operative Department Jemal Shonia (DoB 1977) and Aleksanadre Tchanturia (DoB 1978) for hostage-taking.
Investigation established that detainees planned and committed the kidnapping of Ioseb Giorkhelidze the son of Ramin Giorkhelidze. On October 10 Jemal Shonia and Giorgi Kadani managed to penetrate the house of Giorkhelidze by deception and under the pressure of arms took Ioseb Giorkhelidze from his house in order to demand ransom afterwards. Kidnappers contacted Ramin Giorkhelidze the same day and demanded 300 000 US dollars for releasing his son from illegal custody. Ramin Giorkhelidze reported the police regarding the mentioned fact.
As a result of operative-investigative activities Jemal Shonia and Aleksandre Tchanturia were detained in Tbilisi on October 13, while Durmishkhan Ghvarchliani was taken user arrest in Tsskneti and Giorgi Kaldani inArmazi village. During the personal search of Giorgi Kaldani police seized TT type pistol and 10 000 US dollars.
Investigation is in progress on the fact of hostage-taking article 144 II part sub-paragraph A and F of the Criminal Code.
