Meeting of Interagency Coordinating Council for Combating Organized Crime was held at MIA academy, which was attended by the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Shalva Khutsishvili.
The meeting was attended by the representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Prosecutor’s Office, Ministry of Corrections, Ministry of Education and Science and non-governmental sector.
At the meeting national strategy against organized crime 2017-2020 and action plan of the Ministry of Internal Affairs 2017-2018 were introduced. The mentioned documents have been developed by the Research and Development Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs which also performs duties of the council secretariat.
At the meeting legislative initiatives elaborated by the Ministry of Internal Affairs have also been discussed, envisaging the legislation to become more drastic and polished against the so called “Thieves in Law” and criminal world.
National strategy against organized crime for 2017-2020 and action plan of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for 2017-2018 will be sent to the administration of the Georgian government for approval in the nearest future. Ministry of Internal Affairs will also present new draft law to the government on aggravating the legislation regarding the so called criminal world.
