Minister of Internal Affairs, Vice Prime Minister- Giorgi Gakharia has appointed his Deputies.
Kakhaber Sabanadze was appointed as the First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs.
Kakhaber Sabanadze holds doctor’s degree in international law and international relations. From May 17 of 2017 he was employed as the deputy head of the counter-terrorist center under the State Security Agency. In 2015-2017 Kakhaber Sabanadze was the Deputy Director of Security Department of the State Security Service. In 2008-2010 he was employed as the First Deputy Director of military intelligence under the Ministry of Defense of Georgia. In 2006-2008 Kakhaber Sabanadze was the head of the operative division of Foreign Intelligence Special Service and Deputy Director of the Operative Department. In 2004-2006 – Mr. Sabanadze was the Deputy Head of the Unit Against the fight with International Terrorism under MIA Counter Terrorist Department.
Nino Javakhadze was appointed as the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs. She holds Master’s degree in Economics. In 2013-2015 Nino Javakhadze was the head of the unit responsible for the relations with International Trade Organization and trade negotiations under the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, head of Economic Development Service under the Economic Council and Deputy Secretary of the Economic Council as well as member of the negotiation group of the EU-Georgia Association Agreement. From November of 2016, Nino Javakhadze was employed as the Deputy Minister of Economy.
Nino Javakhadze will lead the International Relations, Reforms and Development, Strategic Communications and Public Relations Directions as well as the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Merab Malania continues to work as the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs. He has many years of working experience at the Ministry of Internal Affairs. In 2015 Merab Malania was appointed as the Director of MIA Migration Department, Director of Special Tasks Department under Special and Emergency Measures center of MIA. In 2016, Merab Malania was appointed as the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs.
Merab Malania will lead the directions of Special Tasks Department, Department for the protection of Strategic Pipelines, Department for the Protection of the Objects, Migration Department and Emergency Situations Agency.
