On February 27, Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Prosecutor’s Office and International Organization for Migration (IOM) on Capacity Building of Law Enforcement Agencies in the Area of Combating Trafficking in Persons.
Memorandum envisages strengthening of co-operation, re-training and capacity building of representatives of law enforcing agencies in the field of the fight against trafficking. Memorandum was signed by the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Levan Izoria, Deputy Chief Prosecutor Giorgi Gogadze and head of International Organization for Migration mission (IOM) Iliana Derilova.
Memorandum envisages establishment of the Task Force which is composed of 7 detectives and 5 prosecutors in Adjara Region. Purpose of this group is proactive detection, effective investigation and criminal prosecution of Human Trafficking cases. Members of Task Force will undergo special training by the International Organization for Migration.
