Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Archil Talakvadze visited 112 Emergency Response Center and congratulated with the international day dedicated to the emergency number 112. In connection with the mentioned day special event was held at the center, which was attended by Deputy Minister and representatives from various extreme sports federations.
Guests got familiarized with work specifics of the agency. Memorandum on cooperation was concluded with representatives of the tourism sphere, which ensures connection with 112 by means of GPS tracker to the areas out of the cover zone of mobile operators. The mentioned trackers were purchased by 112 with their own funds which are aimed for tourists and individuals travelling in mountainous regions of the country.
For the current year, the fight against domestic violence was announced as main priority by the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Two employees of the center were awarded with certificates of appreciation on the behalf of the Minister for excellent fulfillment of duties and efficient operation with regard to receiving emergency calls on the issue of domestic violence.
Aim of marking international day dedicated to the emergency number, is to raise awareness on local as well as on regional levels.
February 11 was announced as international day of “112” in 2009 on the basis of decision made by European Union. It has been three years since the emergency number 112 started operation in Georgia while united emergency number was launched all across Europe in 1991.
