Minister of Internal Affairs Vakhtang Gomelauri attended the burial ceremony held in Aghaiani village, Kaspi of the junior inspector of Vake-Saburtalo Firefighting and Rescue Service under Emergency Situations Management Agency who died as a result of the disaster.
First of all I would like to express my deep condolences to Zura's family. He was the member of a big MIA family. He was at the site of disaster from the very beginning and he was a person to rescue 7 persons, but couldn't manage to draw back and died. This person is a real heroe. I would like to express gratitude to those police officers who participated in rescue operations, as well as to soldiers of the Defense Ministry who saved people's lives." - stated the Minister.
The funeral ceremony was also attended by Prime-minister of Georgia Irakli Gharibashvili, Minister of Justice Thea Tsulukiani, Defense Minister Tina Khidasheli, the secretary of Security and Crises Management Board Minidia Janelidze, Head of Emergency Situations Management Agency Zviad Tsakashvili and other officials. The PM Gharibashvili awarded Zurab Muzashvili for “devotion in the line of duty after death”. PM Gharibashvili handed the award "Civil Devotion" to the father of the fallen rescuer. On June 13th Zurab Muzsashvili rescued 7 citizens and his partner in the line of duty during the flood that occurred in Vere River valley. At first the rescuer managed to rescue 3 people during disaster and his partner along with the citizens. Upon the end of the rescue operation, on the way back to dislocation, the rescuer noticed a mini-bus with four passengers floating in the water. The rescuer transferred the passengers to the safer areas, but could not survive himself and died.
