Today sports gym was opened at Rescue Training and Response Division base of MIA Emergency Management Department. Minister of Internal Affairs Aleksandre Tchikaidze and Emergency Management Department Director Zviad Katsashvili opened the building in the solemn atmosphere. The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Vakhtang Gomelauri and other officials from the mentioned Department.
Within the frames of the event demonstrative trainings were held in order to show the level of professionalism of MIA rescuers. According to the scenario several emergency incidents were staged, such as: chemical incident, rescue and liquidation works during car crash and earthquake situations.
Construction of the gym was initiated by the Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili several months ago. Building is equipped with the latest sport and office inventory, gym appliances, the so called Swedish wall and shower cubicle. The building was constructed in compliance with the existing European standards.
Personnel of the Department will have an opportunity to be trained at newly constructed gym in order to maintain high level of physical condition. Various municipal rescue services will also be able to train at the gym, who gradually undergo professional re-training courses at the base.
