The officers of Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, US Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), General Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia, Adjara Police Department and Customs Department of the Revenue Service, as a result of two-month intensive operative-investigative activities, exposed organized group of international drug offenders.
As a result of jointly held operation, two Bulgarian citizens have been detained and up to 40 kg. of heroin was seized.
Investigation established that detainees- D.M. and V.Ts. illegally smuggled up to 40 kg of heroin from the Republic of Armenia to Georgia for international shipping by means of cache specially arranged in a vehicle. Drugs were stored in specially arranged place located in Batumi till shipping process was organized.
During the search activities held in detainees’ places of temporary residence, drugs in especially large quantities have been seized.
The cost of the seized drugs is worth of up to 2 million USD.
Committed crime envisages up to 20 years of imprisonment.
Investigation is conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs under the article 260, VI part, sub-paragraph “A” and article 262, IV part, sub-paragraph “A” envisaged by the Criminal Code of Georgia.
