The Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs has received equipment from Poland for the purpose of training in the field of civil protection. The Ambassador of Poland to Georgia, Mariusz Maszkiewicz handed over the donation certificate to the Deputy Minister Vladimer Bortsvadze during the solemn ceremony.
Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs has expressed gratitude towards the Polish side for the contribution in the field civil protection.
“I would like to express my gratitude towards the polish side for the partnership and contribution made in the sphere of civil protection. Contemporary infrastructure will facilitate the process of implementing new study programs and boost the qualification of our firefighters and rescuers.”- stated Vladimer Bortsvadze.
Ceremony dedicated to the equipment donation was held on the base of the Emergency Response Main Division under the Emergency Situations Management Service.
The event was also attended by Deputy Director of the Development Cooperation Department under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland, Deputy Head of the Project, Main School of Fire Service instructors and representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia received training equipment under the initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland, within the frames of the project “Capacity Building of MIA Academy in the field of civil protection”- co-facilitated by the Embassy of Poland to Georgia and Main School of Fire Service of Poland.
The project includes multi-functional fire and rescue simulator, aimed for practical training as well special, fire uniforms and relevant training equipment for 17 instructors.
After the completion of the official ceremony, demonstrative exercise was held with the special equipment donated by the Polish side.
In the nearest future, instructors from Warsaw Main School of Fire Service will arrive to hold trainings and familiarize Georgian instructors from Civil Protection Training Division under the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs with the newly donated equipment.
