Ministry of Internal Affairs held a closing ceremony of an information campaign - „Do Not Deprive Childhood”. Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs – Aleksandre Darakhvelidze and the Head of the UNFPA Country office Georgia – Lela Bakradze delivered the opening remarks.
At the closing ceremony, among the invited guests were the representatives of governmental and non-governmental sector, local and international organizations. Human Rights Protection and Investigation Quality Monitoring Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs made the presentation through which the attendees were informed about activities implemented by the Ministry of Internal Affairs within the campaign.
At the final event, the winners of the announced photo contest were named who were awarded prizes.
The campaign was carried out in cooperation with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Georgia Office to eradicate child marriage, raise awareness regarding the mentioned issue and provide timely police reporting.
The information campaign has been launched on June 1 and lasted for a month. Within the campaign, the representatives of the Human Rights Protection and Investigation Quality Monitoring Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs with local police divisions, as well as witness and victim coordinators, held thematic meetings in seven regions of Georgia.
Within the framework of the campaign information video was produced, drawing contest was announced, as well as, branded materials were printed: T-shirts, bags, stationery and booklets, which were distributed to meeting participants and citizens from different municipalities.
Using the SMS system population was informed about the ways to inform police about the crimes on early marriage.
The campaign was carried out in partnership with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Georgia Office, under the auspices of the United Nations Joint Program on Gender Equality, funded by Sweden.
