In order to ensure that 31 October 2020 elections are held in a secure, free and peaceful environment:
- According to the Order of the Minister of Internal Affairs, police mobile groups have been created in every region with the purpose of ensuring public order and security. In case of necessity, the mobile groups, within the authority envisaged under the law, will instantaneously react on offences and ensure the rule of law;
- In order to ensure that the elections are held in a peaceful environment, according to the necessity the police forces are being allocated/deployed throughout the whole territory of the country;
- The International Relations Departments of the Ministry of Internal Affairs has been designated as a contact point for the international observation missions, to ensure exchange of the information regarding to the authority/power of police;
- The Human Rights Protection and Quality Monitoring Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs has been designated as a contact point for the representatives of the Public Defender (Ombudsman) of Georgia, to ensure exchange of the information regarding to the authority/power of police;
- The Legal Department and the Human Rights Protection and Quality Monitoring Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs have been designated as contact points for the local observation missions and non-governmental organizations, to ensure exchange of the information regarding to the authority/power of police;
- The information regarding the contact points have been already disseminated to the relevant international organizations, the Public Defender (Ombudsman) of Georgia, international and local observation missions, and non-governmental organizations;
- Throughout the Election Day, the Ministry of Internal Affairs will regularly inform the public regarding the alleged violations of the law during the election, response thereto, and other issues within the competence of the Police.
