Dmanisi and Marneuli police divisions under Kvemo Kartli Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs have already launched investigation regarding the fact of damaging fiber-optic cables of international importance.
In both cases, relevant services made quick response. At this moment, the problem has already been solved and internet supply is restored.
Investigation established that in late hours of September 29, 2020, unidentified person/persons removed the soil and damaged fiber-optic cables of underground telecommunication, near the utility poles, owned by fiber-optic telecommunications network, located in vicinities of Orozmani village, Dmanisi municipality. Unidentified person/persons cut the company-owned fiber-optic cable of international importance, supplying the direction of Poti-Tbilisi-Bolnisi-Dmanisi-Armenia, streaming from the Black Sea. Police was provided with respective report on the mentioned fact by the company representative on September 30, 2020, three hours later after the incident.
With regard to the mentioned fact, investigation has been launched by the Dmanisi Police Division, crime envisaged under the article 187, I part of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
Within the frames of the ongoing investigation it was established that “Silknet” company received information on September 28, 2020 according to which, the company-owned fiber-optic cable was damaged in Sadakhlo village. Upon the arrival of the company representatives, it was detected that fiber-optic cable, stretched across the water canal has been cut. The mentioned cable provided local residents with internet services and was linked to internet supply system of the Republic of Armenia.
Regarding the mentioned fact, investigation was launched under the article 187, I part of the Criminal Code of Georgia
Dmanisi and Marneuli police divisions under Kvemo Kartli Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs conduct intensive investigative activities on the fact of damaging fiber-optic cables of international importance. Active operative-search activities are also being held to identify and detain those responsible for the mentioned crime.
