On June 8 of the current year, the Ministry of Internal Affairs under the Article 126 of the Criminal Code of Georgia (violence) launched an investigation on the fact of conflict between the citizens of Georgia and Ukraine in Daba Gudauri, Kazbegi District.
The notification received by Mtskheta-Mtianeti Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported about the conflict between Georgian paratroopers and Ukrainian citizens, who are leasing the areas for landing by paraplanes near Daba Gudauri; during the conflict the Georgian pilots verbally and physically insulted Ukrainian pilots.
The law enforcers promptly appeared at the scene. The confrontation continued even after the police arrived, but soon they were able to defuse the conflict.
At the first stage of the investigation it was established that the Georgian paraplane pilots accidentally landed on territory leased by Ukrainian citizens, which resulted in Ukraine's dissatisfaction and conflict between the parties.
Within the scope of the investigation, the police inspected the site of the accident and all three victims were interviewed. Also, relevant expertise is conducted.
On the second day of the conflict, Georgian pilots blocked the access to the territory for flying by paraplanes and did not allow the movement of the citizens of the Russian Federation - paraplanists, which resulted in a conflict between them. As a result of the confrontation, the Georgian paralane pilots attacked Russian citizens - Sergei Dementiev and Feodor Chelishev, verbally and physically insulted them and damaged their vehicles.
Feodor Chelishev - injured during the conflict - undergoes medical treatment in one of the medical institutions of Tbilisi. Currently, his life is not in danger.
Within the scope of the investigation, both citizens of the Russian Federation involved in the conflict were interviewed, relevant expertise is assigned. Currently intensive investigative activities are underway to identify persons who committed the crime.
The investigation is in progress under the Article 126 and the 1st part of the Article 187 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which means violence and damaging of another person's property.
