Due to the specifics of the ongoing operative-searching and investigative activities, Ministry of Internal Affairs has been abstaining from making additional comments on the armed robbery that took place on Gabriel Salosi Street. However, due to the particular interest of certain media sources Ministry would like to clarify some facts to prevent the wrong interpretation of the fact and not to mislead the public.
On June 14, third division of Isani-Samgori police division launched investigation on the fact of the armed assault committed against Davit Rostomashvili, article 179 of the Criminal Code.
Police managed to detain B.K. (DoB 1992) who was transferred at temporary detention isolator of Tbilisi Police Department by district inspector Z.G. inspector-investigator A.T. and district inspector I.Q. Before detainee was placed at the isolator B.K. managed to escape and flee from the place of crime. He was charged in absentia under the article 179, II part of the Criminal Code.
In connection with the mentioned Tbilisi Prosecutor’s office launched investigation on the fact of negligence of the service duties. The aforementioned police officers were charged under the article 342, I part of the Criminal Code. On June 23, 2017 the mentioned individuals were released on bail and suspended them from their positions.
On the same fact of armed robbery police also detained Zurab Q. 9DoB 1991) who were recognized as the offender by Davit Rostomashvili and his daughter – Ketevan Rostomashvili.
