The officers of the Central Criminal Police Department under the Ministry of Internal Affairs solved the fact of resolving the financial dispute through criminal skirmish.
The officers of the Main Division for Combating Organized Crime under the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as a result of complex investigative activities and operative-investigative measures carried out together with the General Prosecutor's Office, arrested V.G. (DoB 1978) and K.T. (DoB 1965) for membership of the "thieves 'world" and charged with appealing to a "member of the thieves' world" or "thief in law".
M.M. (nicknamed "Kursha"), (DoB 1967) was charged in absentia for being a “Thief in Law”. As for O.S. (DoB 1985), he was charged with "membership of a thieves’ world" in a penitentiary facility.
The investigation established that a property dispute had arisen between K.T. and his acquaintance regarding the land plot. Criminal authorities O.S. and V.G. got involved in resolving the dispute – who, on their part contacted Georgian "thieves in law" residing abroad – M.M. (nicknamed "Kursha") and Z.M. (nicknamed "Glekhovich").
The "thieves in law" together with the disputing parties organized the so-called criminal skirmish in the Republic of Turkey. According to their decision, the subject of the financial dispute - the land plot should have been sold, the entire amount was to be transferred to the "thieves in law", who would later decide how to distribute the appropriated cash.
Police seized the defendants' cell phones, which they used to communicate with each other and "thieves in law" abroad.
The committed crime envisions from 3 to 15 years of imprisonment.
Investigation into the facts of being a “Thief in Law”, membership of the "thieves 'world" and appealing to a member of the "thieves' world" is in progress under Article 223 (1), Part I and II, Article 223 (4) part I of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
