The Ministry of Internal Affairs has completed work on assessment of risks of domestic violence and violence against women, as well as the work on the mechanism for monitoring restraining orders. The Human Rights Protection Department of the Ministry held a meeting with the representatives of state structures, NGOs and international organizations where for further public discussions the Department introduces the risks assessment concept and the concept of monitoring of restraining orders.
The representatives of the Legal Issues Committee, the Public Defender`s Office, Government Administration, Ministry of Justice, Prosecutor's Office of Georgia, Ministry of Penitentiary and Probation, Ministry of Labor, Health and Social Affairs, NGOs and international organizations attended the meeting.
Participants of the meeting have expressed their opinions on the issues that will be considered and taken into account, consequently the risk assessment tool and monitoring mechanism will be implemented in the Ministry from May.
In the process of development the concept the recommendations of the Public Defender and International Organizations were taken into consideration.
The risk assessment tool and monitoring mechanism is an effective mean of preventing violence on early stage, prediction and prevention of repeated threats of violence. The purpose of implementation of the tools is to increase the effectiveness of fight against domestic violence and violence against women.
This mechanism was developed in cooperation with the UN Women, Young Lawyers` Association and National Network for Protection against Violence.
