Briefing of the Director of the Central Criminal Police Department - Mamuka Chelidze
The officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, together with the Prosecutor General's Office, have recently arrested 17 people for drug-related crimes in Tbilisi, Ponichala settlement, Kutaisi, Adjara and Kakheti regions, including 14 drug dealers, as a result of intensive complex special measures and investigative activities.
The detainees are: formerly convicted and currently on probation R.F. (DoB 1996), previously convicted E.A. (DoB 1984), D.Kh., (DoB 1981), M.G. (DoB 1976) I.T., (DoB 1986), T.M. (DoB 1996), V.B. (DoB 1974, G.K), G.K. (DoB1981), as well as foreign nationals: H.K. (DoB 1984) and M.N. (DoB1986) who are accused of illegal purchase, possession and sale of drugs.
On charges of illegal purchase and storage of drugs in large and especially large quantities and the attempted sale the following individuals were detained: I.D., (DoB1994), formerly convicted for drug-related crime and currently on probation S.Ch. (DoB 1997), as well as foreign citizens - A.M. (DoB 1985) and D.K. (DoB 2002);formerly convicted convicted for drug-related crime and currently on probation Ts.G. (DoB 1985) V.B. (DoB 1976), and R.G. (DoB 1981) who are charges with illegal purchase and possession of drugs.
The committed crimes envision up to 20 years or lifetime imprisonment.
The officers of the Central Criminal Police Department, on the basis of the relevant court decision, carried out control purchases of various types of drugs several times and made covert audio-video recording of the mentioned purchases perpetrated by persons arrested for illegal sale of drugs.
During the personal search and search activities held in detainees’ residential houses, the drugs prepared for sale and the money received from the sale of drugs were seized as evidence.
The officers from the same department arrested V.B. for drug offenses. He was arrested in Tbilisi. During the search of the place and the apartment indicated by the accused person, the law enforcers seized: 2945 pills of "Tramadol" drug, 2586 pills of "Methadone", "Heroin" drug, prepared for sale and packed in 71 packages, 2 automatic weapons Geko” pistol, hand grenade , 305 cartridges and 7 magazines for automatic firearms.
Another person arrested in Tbilisi by the Central Criminal Police Department - A.M. was involved in the scheme of selling drugs through Internet. He used various internet applications and social networks to place drugs in specific areas of the capital for further sale. The police seized the drugs placed by the detainee for sale in different places, as evidence namely "Alpha PvP" drug packed in 10 packages.
Employees of Vake-Saburtalo Police Main Division detained foreign citizens - H.K. And M.N. in Tbilisi. The law enforcers, based on the relevant court decision, carried out several control purchases of drugs from the accused persons and videotaped the mentioned purchases. During the personal search and search activities held in their residential apartments, the police seized various types of drugs and money allegedly obtained from the illegal sale of drugs as evidence.
The officers of Imereti, Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti Police Department charged several times convicted and currently on probation G.K. on the basis of the relevant court decision, he was arrested in Kutaisi for illegal purchase, keeping and selling drugs.
The investigation conducted by Adjara Police Department established that D.K. who was arrested for drug crimes, for the purpose of further realization, placed the drug in different places in Batumi. The law enforcers seized "Alpha PvP" drug from the hiding places indicated by the detainee as evidence. As a result of the personal search, "Alpha PvP" drug was also seized as evidence.
The officers of the Detectives Division under Adjara Police Department, as a result of search activities held in Ts.G’s apartment in Batumi, seized 16 packages of drug containing "heroin" and "buprenorphine" as evidence.
As for I. D. and S.Ch., Adjara police seized "heroin” drug sold by them in different places as evidence. As a result of the personal search of the accused persons, 23 packages of "heroin" were seized as evidence. During the search activities held in I.D.'s house, law enforcement officers seized a variety of drugs, including 312 disposable syringes containing heroin.
The officers of Kakheti Police Department detained 3 individuals for drug crimes as a result of operative and investigative activities. Based on the judge's decision, the law enforcers carried out a control purchase of drugs from R.F. and E.A. and made audio-video recording of the mentioned purchases. Police seized the drugs they sold as evidence and the money allegedly obtained from the sale of the narcotics.
As a result of the personal search of another R.G. detained by Kakheti Police, more than 1 kg of heroin was seized as evidence.
Investigation into the facts of illegal purchase, storage, sale and the attempted sale of large and especially large quantities of drugs, sale of marijuana, cannabis and illegal purchase and storage of firearms is in progress under Article 260, I, III, IV, V parts, Article 19-260, Parts IV and V, Article 273(1), VIII part and article 236, III part of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
