The officers of the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs along with Customs Department of the Revenue Service under the Ministry of Finances, as a result of operative and investigative activities detained Turkish citizen – P.D. on the territory of “Kartsakhi” border crossing point.
Detainee is accused of illegal purchase and keeping of drugs and new psychotropic substances in especially large quantities, illegal import to Georgia and international transit.
Committed crime envisages from 8 to 20 or lifetime imprisonment.
During the inspection of the detainee’s vehicle, the officers of the Customs Department of the Revenue Service under the Ministry of Finances found half kilogram of drug – “Heroin” hidden in specially arranged cache in the car salon as well as 99 pills of “MDMA” psychotropic substance which have been seized as evidence.
Investigation established that drug substances were smuggled from Turkey to Uzbekistan via Georgia.
The investigation is in progress on the fact of illegal purchase and keeping of drugs and new psychotropic substances in especially large quantities, illegal import to Georgia and international transit, article 260, II and VI parts, sub-paragraph sub-paragraphs “A” and article 262, IV part, sub-paragraph “A” of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
