As a result of recent operational measures and investigative actions, officers of the Central Criminal Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Tbilisi, Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti, Adjara, Imereti and Shida Kartli Departments, together with the Prosecutor General's Office, have arrested 22 people for drug-related crimes, including 19 drug dealers.
The detainees include citizens of Georgia, Russia, Azerbaijan, Moldova and Turkey.
The following persons have been detained for the illegal selling, attempted selling and preparation of large and especially large quantities of narcotic drugs for sale, as well as the narcotic drug "marijuana". The detainees are: K.I., (DoB 1996), J.N. (DoB 1986), R.A. (DoB 1991), E.M. (DoB 1997), P.M. (DoB 1988), G.S. (DoB 1985), K.K. (DoB 2001), S.Ch. (DoB 2004), M.B., (DoB 1976), S.R. (DoB 2002), I.K. (DoB 1989), G.A. (DoB 1987), M.A. (DoB 1991), A.Ch. (DoB 1993) R.J. (DoB 1982) R.B. (DoB 1999) D.K. (DoB 1992), G.M. (DoB 1992), L.A. (DoB 1984.
The following are detained for the illegal purchase and storage of drugs in large and especially large quantities: V.K. (DoB 2003) T.S., (DoB 1996) D.K. (DoB 1998).
The committed crimes envisions up to 20 years or life imprisonment.
The employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, based on the judge's ruling, conducted a number of undercover investigative actions, which established that the accused drug dealers were systematically selling narcotics.
The police have repeatedly conducted the so-called controll purchases of various types of narcotics from individuals arrested for illegal drug trafficking, as well as on the basis of a judge's ruling, and have secretly recorded audio and video recordings of these purchases.
During searches of the personal and residential homes of individuals arrested on drug charges, law enforcement officers have seized a particularly large amount of various types of narcotics from locations indicated by them, including: "heroin", "amphetamine", "suboxin", "buprenorphine", "alpha-PVP", "methadone" and "marijuana".
As a result of the investigative actions, the police have seized money, adhesive tapes and electric scales, allegedly obtained as a result of drug sales, as evidence.
The investigation is underway under Articles 260, 18-260, 19-260 and 273 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
