The officers of Didube-Chughureti police division under Tbilisi Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as a result of immediate operative-search and investigative activities, detained I.J. (DoB 1981) in Tbilisi for armed robbery committed with an intent to appropriate object in large amounts.
Committed crime envisages from 8 to 12 years of imprisonment.
Investigation established that on November 7 of the current year, detainee broke into one of the branches of the “Bank of Georgia” located in Dighomi Massive district, Tbilisi. I.J. appropriated cash in the amount of 10 000 GEL under the pressure of the firearm and fled from the place of crime.
I.J. was detained by the law enforcement officers as a result of immediate police activities in Tbilisi. As a result of the personal search held to the detainee, police seized the weapon of crime- signal pistol and part of illegally appropriated cash as evidence.
I.J. has already pleaded guilty.
Investigation is in progress on the fact of armed robbery committed to appropriate an object in large quantities, article 179, III part, sub-paragraph “C” of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
Considering that I.J. is the active employee of the Security Police Department, the case has been forwarded to the General Prosecutor’s office for further activities.
