The officers of Tbilisi Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as a result of operative-investigative activities, detained two more persons –V.B. (DoB 1988) and D.K. (DoB 198) for the unlawful interference with the journalist’s professional activities under the threats of violence, persecution under violence, or threat of violence and group violence.
The investigation established that on July 5 of the current year, during the counter-manifestation held against “Tbilisi Pride” V.B. physically and verbally abused the cameraman of “TV Pirveli” while performing his professional duties at the intersection of Revaz Tabukashvili and Giorgi Chanturia streets on Rustaveli Avenue, Tbilisi, while on the same day, D.K. physically assaulted a citizen on Rustaveli Avenue near Kashueti Church.
The investigation is in progress under Article 154, Part 2, Article 156, Part II, Subparagraph "A" and Article 225, Part II of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
Investigative-operative activities are underway in order to identify and arrest others involved in the crime.
At this moment, 23 people are detained in total for the criminal actions perpetrated during the counter-manifestation of "Tbilisi Pride", namely:
• 19 persons are detained for unlawful interference with the journalist’s professional activities under the threats of violence, persecution under violence, or threat of violence and group violence.
• 3 persons detained for raiding the office of “Tbilisi Pride”, participation in violence committed in group, persecution under violence or threat of violence and violation of inviolability of domicile or of any other property.
• 1 person was arrested by police for violence against a citizen.
