As a result of complex operational and investigative measures conducted together with the General Prosecutor's Office, the employees of the main division for the fight against organized crime of the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs arrested 13 people in Tbilisi, Kutaisi and Svaneti.
The police arrested: I.K. (DoB 1965), Z.T. (DoB 1994), A.F. (DoB 1996), G.F. (DoB 1973), M.G. (DoB 1995), D.K. (DoB 1989), S.B. (DoB 1993) G.A (DoB 1968), D.Z., (DoB 1990, nicknamed "Blonde"), G.K., (DoB 1985), K.V. (DoB 1973), P.Z., (DoB 1977). and A.Z. (DoB 2000). Based on the court ruling, they were arrested on the charges of "membership of the thieves’ world", "supporting the activities of the Thieves’ World" and "addressing a member of the Thieves’ World".
The committed crimes envision up to 10 years of imprisonment.
Through the complex investigation of the case, it was determined that the mentioned persons actively participated in various criminal activities.
The defendants - I.K., A.F., and Z.C., in order to discuss and resolve financial disputes between citizens, as well as disputed issues in accordance with the "Thief Rules", with persons supporting the activities of the "Thieves’ World", they systematically organized "criminal skirmishes" along with D.Z. , with MG, GC, GF, GA, SB, DK, and K.V.were actively involved in the discussion of disputed issues, also made decisions according to the rules of the "thieves' world" and forced one of the disputing parties both verbally and by force to deliver the disputed amount of cash.
The persons accused of supporting the activities of the "Thieves' World" provided information on the circumstances of the case to the "Thieves' World" members, presented their opinions, evaluated and facilitated the implementation of the "Thieves' World" activities.
The investigation also established that the defendants P.Z. and A.Z., in order to obtain material benefits and advantage, appealed to the "Thief in law" in Greece, N.F. nicknamed "Burdghunich".
As a result of the search, the law enforcement officers seized computer equipment and mobile phones of the defendants, through which they communicated with each other and with the "thieves in law" abroad, as evidence.
Firearms, ammunition and narcotics were also seized as evidence during the search the personal search and search activities held in detainees’ residential houses.
The investigation is being conducted under article 223 (1), Part I, of Article 223 (3) part II and Article 223 (4) part I of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
