The Ministry of Internal Affairs continues to protect the rights of persons with disabilities within its competence. From 2021, each year by order of the Minister of Internal Affairs, the "Action Plan of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia for the Protection of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities " was approved, for the implementation of which, the Ministry carried out a number of important measures and achieved tangible results, such as training of employees, ensuring the accessibility of buildings and services, better consideration of the needs of disabled persons during emergency situations and others.
The members of the advisory group actively participate in the development of the action plans, which was created on the basis of the order N1/22 of the Minister of Internal Affairs of July 1, 2021 regarding the creation of an advisory group working on the rights of persons with disabilities with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia. The members of the advisory group are the heads of all the structural units of the Agency, which are defined as the units responsible for the implementation of the activities defined in the action plan as well as persons with disabilities, representatives of their respective organizations and other non-governmental organizations working in the field.
The 2023 action plan envisages the introduction/improvement of adapted services for the disabled, training of employees, meetings with the disabled community, introduction of a training module in the police academy and other measures, the implementation of which is in an active phase.
