Investigation on the fact of verbal and physical confrontation between local population and foreign citizens residing in Georgia is in progress under the Article 126 (Violence) of the Criminal Code of Georgia. The crime envisages imprisonment from 1 to 3 years in length.
Approximately 20 individuals have been interrogated, including both sides of a conflict. The relevant expertise is assigned. Individuals who have information regarding the incident are still being interrogated. The investigation also works in direction of outlining the motive of discrimination.
The qualification of the Article will be reviewed only after all necessary investigative/procedural actions are completed and the investigation have a full picture of the incident.
