On the occasion of the 13th anniversary of Russian-Georgian August War 2008, Minister of Internal Affairs, Vakhtang Gomelauri along with his Deputies laid a wreath on the memorial of police officers fallen in the line of duty.
Also, the Heads of the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs laid flowers on the memorial of the police officers died for the unity of Georgia and paid tribute to the memory of the heroes.
During the August War 2008, the Ministry of Internal Affairs lost 14 police officers and 5 employees of the Coast Guard. By the decision of Vakhtang Gomelauri, families and children of the fallen police officers were provided with material assistance.
