Minister of Internal Affairs, Vakhtang Gomelauri, along with Prime Minister, Irakli Kobakhidze visited the new, contemporary base of Special Tasks Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Irakli Kobakhidze and Vakhtang Gomelauri viewed the infrastructure of newly built base, the work and living spaces for the employees, the updated car fleet, contemporary technic and equipment, as well as cafeteria and gym.
As the Prime Minister noted, the new infrastructure and equipment will contribute to implementing Special Tasks Department activities.
The Prime Minister outlined the role of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in ensuring the security of the country and expressed his gratitude towards the law enforcement officers.
"We visited the new base, which belongs to the Department of Special Tasks of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. It is a very important infrastructure, which, of course, will help the Department of Special Tasks to carry out its activities, it is an extraordinary infrastructure in all respects, and we also viewed the new equipment with which the special tasks department was handed over.
As you are aware, the activities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs as a whole are extremely important in order to protect our state interests, and in this regard, special importance is attached to the activities of the Special Tasks Department in all directions. Of course, the protection of our state interests depends on them, and I want to congratulate everyone on the opening of this new base", - noted Irakli Kobakhidze.
Vakhtang Gomelauri stated that the new base was built according to modern standards and is fully adapted to the needs of employees.
"The mentioned base of contemporary standards was built from scratch. This is the base of special assignments unit, which, of course, is included in this department. On the territory of the base there are living quarters, a gym, a cafeteria, rooms designated for two individuals to live in, which have not existed anywhere before, they are designated for each member of the special forces. Training rooms were organized, new equipment and machinery were purchased, including water jet machines. Water cannon machines were purchased last time during the previous government that needed to be updated. Armament of the special forces has also been updated" – noted Vakhtang Gomelauri.
The new base of the Special Tasks Department is located on an area of 20,000 square meters.
The territory of the base includes a three-story barracks for 150 employees, where work and rest rooms equipped with modern equipment are arranged.
In the territory of the base, duty and weapon spaces were also organized. A cafeteria was built, as well as a gym equipped with the latest sports equipment, exercise machines and showers.
It should be noted that one of the main priorities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is the renewal of the police infrastructure, as well as the improvement of the work conditions of law enforcement officers.
In the past years, the equipment of Special Tasks Department was completely updated, and in different regions, the construction of new, modern -standard bases for the employees of the department is underway.
