Today, at “Courtyard Marriott” hotel the memorandum of understanding on cooperation was signed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Environment and Natural Recourses Protection, Swiss Agency for Development and Co-operation within the frames of the project - Strengthening of the Prevention and Preparedness System- Phase II.
Document was signed by Minister of Internal Affairs Aleksandre Tchikaidze, Minister of Environment and Natural Recourses Protection Khatuna Gogaladze and regional director of Swiss Agency for Development and Co-operation Rudolf Schoch.
The mentioned project will be implemented in Zemo Svaneti Region, vulnerable to catastrophes and will contribute to the protection of the local population from natural disasters. Additionally, aim of the project is to improve management capacities during emergencies. As a result of the project initiation it will be possible to implement new method of crisis management on the local level in order to conduct preventive measures on the example of Swiss experience. Project also supports trainings schedule for fire-rescue services in order to enhance capacities of operative workers and to provide operative and balanced system countrywide. Within the frames of the project Ministry of Internal Affairs will carry on to hold trainings for firemen and rescuers of municipal services. The mentioned project 2013-2016 corresponds to Caucasus region strategy of Swiss Agency for Development and Co-operation and complies with aims of the Government and other agencies. The Project is based on long term co-operation between MIA Emergency Management Department, Ministry of Environment and Natural Recourses Protection in the field of risk reduction catastrophes in Georgia.
