The Minister of Internal Affairs, Vakhtang Gomelauri awarded Michael Truner, the Senior Police Advisor of the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) to Georgia with the certificate of acknowledgement and the medal “For Special Merits” of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the contribution to the capacity building of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia.
US Ambassador to Georgia Kelly Degnan, the Head of the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) Rebecca Hunt and the high level representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs attended the award ceremony.
Michael Turner, who has been deployed to Georgia since 2009, greatly contributed to the capacity building of the Patrol Police Department of MIA, to the Academy of MIA and to the Cynology Service of MIA, as well as to strengthening the fight against cybercrime, domestic violence, trafficking and drugs.
Michael Turner expressed gratitude towards Vakhtang Gomelauri for the fruitful cooperation and wished him success throughout his service.
The Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) has been cooperating with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia for many years and is implementing projects on fight against domestic violence and cybercrime, road safety, crime prevention among juveniles, trafficking etc.
