Ministry of Internal Affairs would like to provide public with information on revealed incidents which took place on October 31 in the course of parliamentary elections and the response of the Ministry of Internal Affairs to the mentioned facts.
Police launched investigation with regard to 12 criminal cases throughout Georgia and administrative proceedings were initiated on 16 offences within the frames of police jurisdiction.
New article 154 has been added to the ongoing investigation under the article 187 of Goldani incident, related to the media source “Public”. Newly added article implies interference in journalist’s professional activities.
Investigation was launched under the article 126 I1 of the Criminal Code of Georgia with regard to the fact of violence in vicinities of N40 polling station, Tbilisi;
Investigation is undergoing under the article 162 I1 in connection with incidents that occurred near the polling stations N39 and N40 located in IV micro-district of Varketili settlement, Tbilisi;
Investigation is in progress under the article 126, I part on the incident that took place at N78 polling station, located on Kakheti Highway, Tbilisi;
Investigation has been initiated under Articles 187 and 162 of the Criminal Code of Georgia in connection with the incident at 90 polling station in Tbilisi;
In additional to the mentioned, investigation was launched by Kutaisi police division on the fact of confrontation in vicinities of polling station N37, Kutaisi under the article 162 I1;
Investigation has been launched on the incident that occurred on the outer perimeter of N16 polling station, Rustavi under Article 126 I part of the Criminal Code of Georgia;
In connection with the incident near N64 polling station in Rustavi, investigation is conducted under the article 353 and 126 I part. One person has been detained;
Investigation was also launched on the incident at N52 polling station located in Dashtapi village, Marneuli municipality under the article 162, I1;
Investigation is in progress under the article 126 into the incident that took place on October 31 at the N89 polling station in the village of Kizilajlo, Marneuli district;
Investigation was initiated under the article 162, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, on the incident that took place at the N16 polling station of the 64th Senaki District Election Commission;
Investigation has been launched under Article 126, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of Georgia in connection with the incident that took place in Zugdidi N80 polling station.
As I mentioned above, police launched administrative proceedings on 16 facts of violation, arrested 9 people, including the incident near the polling station located in Gldani Public School N39, where police arrested 6 people under Articles 166 and 173 of the Code of Administrative Offenses.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs actively cooperates with international observing missions, local non-governmental organizations and the Public Defender's Office. Relevant contact persons have been designated at the Ministry to cooperate on issues within the competence of the police.
