First of all, on behalf of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, I would like to express my deepest sorrow for the tragic incident that took place today in Vake Park and offer my condolences to the family, friends and relatives of the deceased juvenile.
Due to the high public interest, we would like to provide public with information regarding the investigative activities conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Upon receiving the notification, representatives of all relevant units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs immediately arrived at the scene of the incident and launched appropriate activities.
The investigation into the incident was immediately launched under Article 240(1), part I of the Criminal Code of Georgia. In the course of ongoing investigative proceedings, the case was re-qualified under Article 240 (1) I and II parts of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which implies the Breach of safety regulations at electric facilities that resulted in death.
The committed crime envisions from 4 to 7 years of imprisonment.
At the moment, active investigative proceedings are being carried out at the scene of the incident, at the Ministry of Internal Affairs as well as at Levan Samkharauli National Forensics Bureau.
Within the frames of the ongoing investigation, interviews of the director, founders and other employees of "Green Service Plus" Ltd., which performed the works, are being conducted in Vake-Saburtalo Police Main division, as well as those who conducted an examination of the completed facility.
At the moment, as part of the initiated investigation, the interviewing of the relevant services of the Tbilisi City Hall, including the employees of the Tbilisi Municipal Laboratory is actively conducted and will continue.
Herewith, the investigation will inspect the documentation describing the design and construction of works, expert conclusions and acts of acceptance and handover.
In addition to the mentioned, the minors who were present in Vake Park at the time of the incident- the 8th grade pupils of Tbilisi Public School No. 55, teachers, representatives of the school administration and the Office of Resource Officers are being questioned at Juvenile Affairs Main Division under Tbilisi Police Department of MIA.
All necessary expertise, as well as investigative and procedural activities will be conducted within the frames of the criminal case.
On behalf of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, we would like to make it clear that after the completion of relevant examinations and investigative activities, the identity of all guilty individuals will be determined and punished with full severity of the law.
In the course of the investigation, due to high public interest, the agency will periodically provide public with the updated information.
