Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Nino Tsatsiashvili participated in a conference "Children's Rights in University Education Programs and Curriculum", organized by the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF). The purpose of the event was to hold a discussion with the involvement of Georgian government officials, diplomatic corps and academic staff from partner countries on integration of children’s rights studies in high or vocational institutions.
The Deputy Minister briefed the conference participants on the steps taken by the Ministry of Internal Affairs to improve the protection of children’s rights, the achieved progress and future plans. Nino Tsatsiashvili also reviewed the activities carried out by the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in order to integrate the requirements of the Code of the Rights of the Child in study curriculums, the creation of specialized unit within Tbilisi Police Department and infrastructural changes, implemented in various structural units of the Ministry, providing kid-friendly environment, as well as results achieved by Human Rights protection and Investigation
Quality Monitoring Department and Witness and Victim Coordination Service in supporting the best interests of the child in the stage of litigation.
At the end of the conference, the Deputy Minister expressed readiness to continue active cooperation with international and local non-governmental organizations in the future to effectively manage the implementation process of the Code on the Rights of the Child.
