Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Aleksandre Darakhvelidze attended the 4th Meeting of Project Steering Committee of the EU-funded project – “Support to Advancing Technical Capacities for Ensuring Human Security”. The project is implemented under the EU4 Security, Accountability and Fight Against Crime in Georgia (SAFE) programme.
The participants discussed the technical assistance provided and achievements made by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and other partner institutions under the project.
The Deputy Minister of INternal Affairs - Aleksandre Darakhvelidze, Deputy Head of Cooperation of the EU Delegation to Georgia – Catalin Gherman and the representative of UNOPS Georgia addressed the participants.
Deputy Minister highlighted that newly procured equipment will significantly enhance the operational capabilities of Georgian law enforcement officers in various key areas, including: fight against cybercrime, response to emergency situations, border management, road safety, etc.
Aleksandre Darakhvelidze expressed profound gratitude to the European Union and the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) for their generous donation of high-technological software and hardware equipment.
At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed their readiness to further continue successful cooperation.
The project has been implemented by the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) in close cooperation with the International Relations Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia since 2020. The project aims at supporting the efficiency, effectiveness and accountability of institutions in the security sector of Georgia through the provision of modern high-technological software and hardware equipment, as well as strengthening institutional capacities of emergency situations and crises management authorities.
