The Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia, Vakhtang Gomelauri, held a meeting with the newly designated U.S. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Georgia - Robin Dunnigan.
The meeting was also attended by the Director of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) Bureau Office in Georgia - Sarah Rupert and the US Embassy Regional Security Service (RSO) Officer - James Ullin.
During the introductory meeting, Vakhtang Gomelauri extended his congratulations to Robin Dunnigan on the commencement of her diplomatic mission in Georgia and wished her success.
The parties discussed the close and fruitful relations between Georgia and the USA and the issue of further strengthening cooperation in the field of law enforcement.
Vakhtang Gomelauri expressed his gratitude to the Ambassador for the contribution made by the US Government in developing the capabilities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia.
Within the framework of cooperation between the parties, the Minister highlighted the priority directions for the Ministry, such as combating against organized crime, drug-related crime and fight against trafficking, domestic violence and violence against women, sexual crime, fight against discrimination and state border protection.
At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed their hope that the existing strategic partnership and bilateral cooperation between the two countries over the years will further be enhanced through joint efforts.
