The Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia, Vakhtang Gomelauri, held an introductory meeting with the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Georgia, Akira Imamura.
Vakhtang Gomelauri wished the Ambassador success in future activities and expressed hope that with his support existing cooperation will further be enhanced.
The Minister expressed gratitude for the contribution of Japanese side to the capacity building of the Ministry. Vakhtang Gomelauri underlined the cooperation of the Ministry with the Embassy of Japan in Georgia within the framework of the Human Security Grant Programme, one of the beneficiaries of which is the Emergency Management Service. The Minister also noted that by active cooperation with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the representatives of the Emergency Management Service undergo trainings in the field of disaster risk reduction on a regular basis.
At the end of the meeting, the parties set the priorities of future collaboration perspectives.
