The Minister of Internal Affairs, Vakhtang Gomelauri held an introductory meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Georgia, Mark Clayton, who started his service in Georgia since August of this year.
Vakhtang Gomelauri congratulated the Ambassador on the start of his diplomatic mission in Georgia and wished success in future activities.
At the meeting the parties discussed the existing close and effective police cooperation between the law enforcement agencies of Georgia and the United Kingdom.
Vakhtang Gomelauri underlined the role of the National Crime Agency (NCA) of the United Kingdom in the capacity building of the units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and provided ambassador with the information on future cooperation perspectives and areas of cooperation.
The sides have also stressed the existing cooperation and future plans between the two countries in the field of maritime security, which were discussed at the seventh round of the Georgia-UK Wardrop Strategic Dialogue held on 9 September of this year in video-conference format.
