The Minister of Internal Affairs, Vakhtang Gomelauri, the Deputy Minister, Ioseb Tcheldze, the Mayor of Tbilisi, Kakha Kaladze and the Head of Emergency Situations Management Service, Temur Mghebrishvili attended the fire-rescue demonstration training held at the extraordinary situations rapid response base of the Emergency Situations Management Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Highly qualified French instructors from the International Civil Defence Organization (ICDO) are conducting one-week long trainings for 22 Georgian firefighters-rescuers, preparing them for the firefighting activities. The demonstration training was held within the frames of these trainings.
Firefighters-rescuers descended from height at the training ground and took an “injured” person to a safe place without any harm. Moreover, they extinguished imitated fires resulting from a car accident and in the circumstances of heavy smoke.
Vakhtan Gomelauri and Kakha Kaladze met with the group of firefighters-rescuers, who underwent an intensive training course on mine rescue operations in South Africa.
Currently, the Emergency Situations Management Service has professionals with high level preparedness in mine rescue operations who are trained at one of the best bases in the world and who are eligible to train their Georgian colleagues in future.
Within the frames of the event, the guests got familiar with the technological novelties introduced in the Service and viewed rescue drones, which were engaged into rescue operations for the first time. With the help of them 2 human lives were saved in the storm at the Black Sea beachline during sea season. Multifunctional rescue drones are used during operations on the water, as well as for the examination of fire dissemination area and for the conduction of monitoring over various rescue operations.
The Minister of Internal Affairs, Vakhtang Gomelauri and the Mayor of Tbilisi visited a new room of psychologist at the base. The mentioned room was opened in the Emergency Situations Management Service since October and it helps firefighters-rescuers in dealing with stress. Meeting with a psychologist can be arranged both, individually and in groups.
Furthermore, there was an exhibition of fire-rescue technic and equipment at the extraordinary situations rapid response base. 15 new cars “Toyota Hilux” are already supplemented to the car fleet of the Monitoring Department of the Emergency Situations Management Service. Some of the cars were transferred to the regional services of the Department. At the same time, new staff units were added and the personnel was retrained, who will examine the fire safety rules of the buildings throughout the country and will make an adequate response. The novelties introduced in the Monitoring Department will contribute to its efficient work and to the reduction of fire and other emergency risks in the country.
The Minister of Internal Affairs and the Mayor of Tbilisi also got familiar with the capabilities of a new fire-rescue car, which was deployed for the first time by the Emergency Situations Management Service on Tbilisi-Senaki-Leselidze Highway for the purposes of a rapid response to car accidents.
The event was closed with the landscape gardening activity at the fire-rescue base. The Minister of Internal Affairs, Vakhtang Gomelauri, the Deputy Minister, Ioseb Tcheldze, the Mayor of Tbilisi, Kakha Kaladze, the Head of Emergency Situations Management Service, Temur Mghebrishvili and French instructors, together with firefighters-rescuers, planted 100 pine saplings.
