Within the frames of the first official visit to Minsk Mr. Giorgi Mghebrishvili, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia had a meeting with Mr. Igor Shunevich, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Belarus. The sides discussed the issues of bilateral cooperation, fight against organized and transnational crime as well as the issues of cooperation between the law enforcement agencies of both countries.
The Minister of Internal Affairs introduced to his Belarus colleague the ongoing and planned reforms of the Ministry. Mr. Giorgi Mghebrishvili said "crime in general and in particular, organized crime, has no borders. Thus, close and business relations between the law enforcement agencies of different states shall make the fight against organized crime more efficient. "
According to the Minister of Internal Affairs of Belarus everything is done to ensure security and development of Georgian business in Belarus. Mr. Igor Shunevich emphasized the high standards of Georgian Police and focused on the importance of sharing experiences.
The sides agreed to deepen bilateral cooperation between the Police Academies of Georgia and Belarus.
During the visit, the Memorandum of Understanding on “the issues related to recovery of minor children of the employees of the Ministries of Internal Affairs” was signed between the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus.
