The delegation of the National Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Turkiye headed by the Director of Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crimes Department Mahmut Corumlu paid an official visit to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia.
The delegation was hosted by the Director of the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia – Teimuraz Kupatadze.
Within the visit, eighth Joint Commission Meeting of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Turkiye was held.
Joint Commission had been established in accordance with the Article 19 of the Agreement signed in 1994 between the “Government of Georgia and the Government of the Republic of Turkiye on Cooperation in the Field of Security”. The meetings of the Joint Commission are held annually, consecutively in Georgia or in the Republic of Turkiye.
The meeting in the Ministry of Internal Affairs was attended by the Heads of the Central Criminal Police Department, Patrol Police Department, International Relations Department and the Border Police of Georgia, Acting Head of the Counterterrorism Center of the State Security Service of Georgia also attended the meeting.
The parties of the meeting stressed on the importance of existing bilateral cooperation between law enforcement agencies of the two countries and discussed future perspectives. Particular attention was paid to the issues of mutual interest on combating illegal drug trafficking, human trafficking, terrorism and other forms of organized crime.
Parties expressed their hope that through their joint efforts and intensive cooperation, they will further enhance and develop the close and friendly relationship between the law enforcement agencies of the two countries.
At the end of the meeting, parties signed the Minutes of the Meeting determining the prospects of future cooperation.
