The delegation of the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Trkiye, headed by the Director General of Turkish National Police, Mahmut Demirtaş, paid an official visit to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia.
The delegation was hosted by the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia, Aleksandre Darakhvelidze.
Within the framework of the visit, the tenth meeting of the Joint Commission of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Trkiye was held, which convenes alternately in Georgia and the Republic of Trkiye, in accordance with the 1994 Agreement “On Cooperation in the Field of Security between the Government of Georgia and the Government of the Republic of Trkiye.”
In addition to the Deputy Minister, the meeting held at the Ministry of Internal Affairs was attended by the heads of the Border Police, the Central Criminal Police Department, the Patrol Police Department, the Police Department of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara and the International Relations Department. The Director of the Information-Analytical Department of the State Security Service of Georgia also participated in the meeting.
Within the framework of the tenth meeting of the Commission the parties overviewed priorities of law enforcement agencies of two countries and discussed future plans for bilateral cooperation. Particular emphasis was placed on combating crime and the implementation of joint measures in this direction.
At the end of the meeting, the parties underlined that through joint efforts, the cooperation between the law enforcement agencies of the two countries would continue to strengthen and develop further.
