In order to increase the effectiveness of border control while crossing the state border of Georgia, special electronic face recognition program was launched from October 1, 2023.
The mentioned system will enable border guards and controllers an instant and accurate identification of wanted, deported, banned individuals or other violators while crossing the state border of Georgia through automated data processing.
Effective operation of the mentioned system will significantly contribute to the protection of state and public safety.
In addition, the operation of special electronic face recognition program ensures the fulfilment of country’s obligations under various international agreements, including improved management of the visa-free travel process with the countries of the European Union/Schengen zone.
Special face recognition programs are successfully applied in a number of European countries and serve as the effective means of combating illegal migration.
