Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, with the purpose to prevent crime and ensure public order, conducted special police control throughout the country in compliance with the Law of Georgia on Police.
182 crimes were revealed by the law enforcers on June 16-18, 2016, including:
Illegal purchase, storage and carrying of firearms (article 236 of the Criminal Code) – 61 facts;
Attempted murder (article 19-109 of the Criminal Code) – 1 fact;
Illegal purchase, storage and distribution of drugs (article 260 of the Criminal Code) – 21 facts;
Attempted import of drug to Georgia (article 262, Criminal Code) – 1 fact;
Police detained one wanted person; also the earlier committed crimes - robbery, attempted burglary and illegal import of drug to Georgia – were revealed, each fact of each crime.
1450 administrative violations were fixed, among them:
Minor hooliganism (article 166, Administrative Offences Code) – 17 facts;
Non-compliance with the lawful order (article 173, Administrative Offences Code) – 32 facts;
Non-compliance with the lawful order and minor hooliganism (articles 166 and 173, Administrative Offences Code) – 16 facts;
Following types of firearms and ammunition were seized from illegal circulation during the police control: 6 machine guns; 4 pistols; 1 revolver; 2 pistol shots; 3 rifles; 15 cut guns; 1 hunting rifle; 1 anti-personnel mines; 4 rocket launchers; 2 anti-tank missiles; 1 anti-tank mine; 36 grenades; 2 mortars; 14 exploders; 71 hand grenades; 6 capsule-detonators; 4037 cartridges and 1.5 kg of TNT explosives.
There were also seized 16 pills of psychotropic medicines, 7 pills of Diphenoxylate, 109 roots of cannabis, 7 packs of marijuana, 2 packs of heroin, 1 pack of Subotex, 1 pack of opium, 49 pills of Tramadol, 50 pills of Pseudoephedrine, 1 pack of poppy seeds.
Law enforcers arrested 26 individual for criminal offence and 53 – for administrative violation during the police control.
